Textures in Black

Like I mentioned yesterday, this week has been one of the most trying weeks of my life.  I like to wear my emotions on my nails, so that's why I had a lot of dark colors on my nails this week.  But even though I felt cruddy, I wasn't about to let my finger tips be I used my favorite black, Finger Paints Black Expressionism.  This is just one coat, it has perfect formula and application and it dries outrageously shiny.  To amp this look up a little bit, I taped off my tips and applied Essie Matte About You to create a unique French manicure.

  1. I want to do this with my You Don't Know Jacques suede and regular polish. Would it be easier to paint your nails the tip color first and tape it off or the base color and then paint the tip?

  2. @Jessica

I think it is easier to paint the base color first and then do the tips last, but I have done both ways. It depends on which polish has better coverage. For this particular design it was just the top coat over a solid color, so I taped off the tips and painted the whole nail with Matte About You.
